The Victoria Colloquium

The Victoria Colloquium on Political, Social and Legal Theory provides a forum for regular interdisciplinary exchange among faculty, graduate students, and upper-level LL.B students on critical issues in political, social and legal philosophy.

Each year the colloquium brings six very fine theorists to UVic for an intensive seminar. Visitors are theorists of international recognition, speaking to an aspect of their work currently under development. The seminar bears upon a work in progress circulated in advance. Those attending the seminar may also participate in a "pre-seminar" addressing the visitors' work more broadly. Common themes are cultural difference, the reinvigoration of democratic deliberation, and theories of interpretation and judgement.

Faculty, students, and visitors to the university are all welcome to join us. Links to visitors' papers will be active for a period of six months after the date of presentation.

If you wish to become a regular participant - and wish to attend the pre-seminars - please contact us.
