FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WSMV) - A former music producer was convicted of multiple counts of statutory rape this week against a female musician in Williamson County.
The Franklin Police Department confirmed that 55-year-old Samuel “Sammy” Sylvester was found guilty of seven counts of statutory rape, and two counts of sexual battery by an authority figure by a Williamson County jury on Wednesday. The offenses were committed against a 16-year-old female musician, Abbey George, between 2009-2010.
Sylvester was arrested by Franklin Police in December 2019 after he was indicted by a grand jury. He had previously been convicted of crimes against children in Minnesota and Tennessee, and there is an additional case pending, according to FPD.
The statutory rape convictions each call for a sentence of 8 to 12 years, and the sexual battery charges can fetch another 3 to 6 years for each. A sentencing date for Sylvester has not been set.
The investigation into Sylvester’s crimes remains ongoing as Franklin PD believes there may be more victims.
The female victim tied to Sylvester’s recent convictions, now 31 years old, will address the media on Friday at Franklin Police headquarters at 2:30 p.m.
