NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – East Nashville Middle School was briefly put on lockdown Wednesday morning due to an incident at the East Nashville Magnet High School.
Sean Braisted, spokesman for Metro Nashville Public Schools said a student at the high school discharged pepper spray during a fight involving several students.
School staff intervened to break up the fight and EMTs were dispatched to the school. Students and staff impacted by the pepper spray were treated on-site, Braisted said, and no one required hospitalization.
“Parents of the students involved were notified to pick their students up,” Braisted said. “The school is following the disciplinary process outlined in the student-parent handbook for those involved in the incident.”
East Middle was not directly impacted by the incident. East High was able to contain the situation quickly inside the school and did not need to go on a lockdown, Braisted.
