NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A new program in Tennessee is giving young people job opportunities by connecting with employers of diverse industries in the state.

The program, Tennessee Youth Employment Program (YEP), was launched on Monday. It gives those aged 14-24 an opportunity to get job experience, along with important skills.

“This year-round program from the State of Tennessee offers much more than youth job opportunities - it teaches lifelong and life-changing skills. YEP is THE vibe to thrive in the workforce. Tennessee youth, parents, counselors and businesses should visit yeptn.com to learn more about the Youth Employment Program and how to participate,” YEP said.

Along with experiences and lessons, participants will be able to earn up to $4,000.

“By nurturing partnerships between eager young minds and forward-thinking employers, the Youth Employment Program transcends the conventional boundaries of mere job placement. It serves as a catalyst for personal growth, professional development and community enrichment. Helping young workers succeed in their first job is crucial to starting them down the path to meaningful employment,” Commissioner Deniece Thomas, Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development said.
