NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A shooting investigation is underway after a Nashville man was shot early Thursday morning in South Nashville.

The shooting happened at about 12:30 a.m. at the Parliament Place apartment complex on Glastonbury Road, according to Metro Police.

The victim told officers he heard banging on his apartment door and people asking about someone named Trey, police said. When the victim answered the door, he got into an argument with the two suspects.

One of the men pulled out a gun and shot the victim once in the butt, police said. The man was taken to Skyline Medical Center and is expected to survive.

The investigation is ongoing. At this point, MNPD did not have a description of the suspects, but said they might’ve known the victim.

Katie Breslin has lived down the street for two years and said she’d never felt unsafe sitting on her porch until hearing about this shooting. She does not plan on opening her door for strangers for the foreseeable future.

“If I don’t know anyone is coming, then heck yes,” Breslin said. “Especially at 12:30 at night. Holy cow! Usually, at that time of night, you are thinking it is an emergency of some sort. That somebody needs help or something. You don’t really think someone is going to pull out a gun and shoot you.”

The apartment complex manager installed a security system near the parking lot on Thursday afternoon. It includes cameras and sirens to watch over the area until the suspects can be found.
