BALTIMORE (WBAL) - Election day in Baltimore is May 14 and early voting is underway.

But one voter is questioning why he’s received several mail-in ballots for family members who are either deceased or no longer living at his address.

“When it first came in, the mail-in ballot, I said, ‘OK, they must not have been notified,”’ Van Daniels said.

So, he filled out a return to sender form notifying them that the person was deceased.

However, a few weeks later the mail-in ballots were back in his mailbox.

The Baltimore City Board of Elections acknowledged they are in the process of updating voter roles. But officials said their team also never received the ballots in question.

Each mail-in ballot had the letters “ank” written on it.

According to the Postal Service, the letters usually mean “addressee not known” -- despite the Board of Elections address being written on the corner of every envelope.

“Somebody is not doing something,” Daniels said.

Daniels said he votes every election and trusts the system, but he does want answers on why this is happening.

“I’m frustrated and wanted to bring this to your attention,” he said.

Board of Elections officials said when they do receive mail-in ballots back from a voter, they work to verify and update the voter information.
