Police officer helps deliver baby boy on side of road

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB/Gray News) - A police officer is being recognized for his help in delivering a baby boy on Saturday.

Cpl. Jason Lee was working when a driver in a passing vehicle flagged him down and told him that her daughter was about to have a baby and needed a police escort to the hospital.

Lee began his police escort but was asked to pull over to the shoulder and realized that the woman was about to have the baby.

Lee called for medical assistance and helped deliver the baby.

According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, the baby boy is healthy and doing well.
