VANCOUVER, Ca. (WSMV) - The Nashville Predators rebounded from their series-opening loss to even their Western Conference matchup against the Vancouver Canucks with a 4-1 win on Tuesday night.

Earlier in the day, Vancouver head coach Rick Tocchet announced that goalie Thatcher Demko would not play due to injury. Tocchet would not elaborate on the injury, only saying, “It might have been in the game, but I’m not quite sure because he skated yesterday.” Demko played all of Game 1 for the Canucks on Sunday.

The Preds struck first when Anthony Beauvillier tipped the pass in from Filip Forsberg just 1:14 into the 1st period to take the early lead, 1-0. That would hold through the opening period although goalie Juuse Saros was tested multiple times.

Then in the second, Forsberg showed off some nifty puck handling up front and flipped in the wrister for the goal. Less than two minutes later, center Colton Sissons pounced on the rebound up front to poke it through and Nashville took a 3-0 lead.

Vancouver would get on the board late in the second when defenseman Nikita Zadorov fired one past Saros from deep to cut the lead to 3-1.

The lone goal in the 3rd period came on a late empty-netter by Kiefer Sherwood, and that did it for the Preds.

The Nashville Predators split two games on foreign ice and now head back home for Game 3 on Friday. The puck drops at 6:30 p.m.
