If telemarketers were honest and ethical, they wouldn't be telemarketing in the first place. I have compiled a lot of documentation on just how unethical telemarketers are. As time allows, I'll be updating this section with scanned documents and audio clips which show just how sleazy some of these companies are.
Together Dating Service - Oklahoma City - Real nice folks. They hang-up on do-not-call requests made by area residents and forwarded to them via my free service. They've retailiated against my efforts one afternoon by making multiple nuisance calls to my home using Caller ID blocking, but I was able to know for certain that it was them. Although they denied they were doing this when I called them to ask them to stop, the calls suddenly stopped as soon as I warned them that I had used Call Trace and reported them to Southwestern Bell's annoyance call bureau. More on this later.
The tidbit I have to share right now is their description of how they go through the phone book to hawk their dating service, lying to folks by telling them that they were referred.
NEW - Jan. 12, 1999 - Together recently placed a large number of signs in the right-of-way at many busy intersections here in Norman. I'm told by the City of Norman's Code Enforcement department that this is not legal, and that they have already received complaints.
Century 21/Parker Real Estate - Norman, Oklahoma - They think it's OK to call me five times in a 14-month period to ask me if I might be interested in selling my house, but don't like it when people use my service to exercise their right under Federal law to submit their "do-not-call" request.
In fact, they had the audacity to report me to Southwestern Bell's annoyance call bureau! The very pleasant woman at Southwestern Bell got the rest of the story from me, and concluded, "I'm just going to make a note on the account, in case they call back, that as long as you're doing this legally, there's nothing we can do."
Complete Carpet Cleaning - Moore, Oklahoma - They have two shifts of twenty telemarketers calling households in the area. They called me twice within a year to hawk carpet cleaning services, in spite of my do-not-call request (verbally and via certified mail). Their phone room manager, John Hazleton, cheerfully admitted to purging their do-not-call requests every year because there are too many of them! (Federal law requires telemarketers to maintain and honor do-not-call requests for ten years.)

year, unless the resident sends a certified letter.

list.
Thomas, Thomas, Alexis & Lynn - Houston, TX - This is an unbelievable case of a company that is apparently violating the other provisions of the TCPA - sending "junk" faxes by broadcasting to sequential telephone numbers, with no regard to whether or not they are reaching a fax machine. I spoke with Bill Thomas, who I assume is a principal of the firm. Listen for yourself!

Cox Distributing - Norman, OK - One of the companies that I have filed suit against for TCPA violations. Just saw that they had been shut down by the Oklahoma Tax Commission. Here's a shot of their storefront, and two closeups of the sticker. (By the time I got back with a camera, someone had made a half-hearted attempt to remove the sticker).
