WHERE TO WATCH ICYMI – Watch last week’s episode.
Doctors of Defense: A years-long investigation by our national team is raising questions about the quality of health care given to service members and their families, as well as a stunning lack of transparency about the practitioners who provide it. Our team crunched data related to malpractice lawsuits and claims filed against military providers and discovered almost $1 BILLION in taxpayer money spent in payouts and settlements since 2008. And after threatening legal action in a two-year battle for information with the Department of Defense, we obtained records that detail a system that has allowed the military to report hundreds of doctors, nurses, and other providers to a national databank after mistakes, misconduct, and malpractice – all while keeping their identities secret from the military families who see them for treatment. Joce Sterman talks with lawmakers, advocates, and a military family whose tragic malpractice case left their son requiring round-the-clock care for life.
Cost of a Shooting: A five-year-old girl was hit by a bullet while playing in a bounce house at a birthday party. Thankfully, she survived – but the cost of her treatments has been huge.
