Lead Out: The federal government is making a push to remove all lead service lines nationwide over the next ten years. But not everyone thinks this can happen. Our national investigative teams uncovered setbacks in this public health initiative. Many states say they don’t know how many lead service lines exist in their area, nor do they know how many need to be replaced. We traveled to Flint, Michigan, ahead of the 10-year anniversary of the Flint Water Crisis –only to discover they have yet to complete their replacements. InvestigateTV uncovered many attorneys general and public officials believe it’s a “unworkable, underfunded and unnecessary” to follow the EPA’s new rule. Yet, some US lawmakers say there are still possible solutions to get the lead out in America.
‘Forever Chemicals’ Exposure Study: Hundreds of Georgia residents will soon have an opportunity to get their blood tested for cancer causing toxins. That testing part of an exposure study prompted by elevated levels of the toxins – a group of chemicals called PFAS – found in people’s blood as part of reporter Andy Pierrotti’s investigation last year.
Workers Claim Company Exposed them to Toxic Gas: Dozens of workers fall sick, some with cancer and even dying. A joint investigation by InvestigateTV and Grist uncovered claims a Georgia company knowingly exposed its employees to a toxic gas for years. While environmental regulators took action on the issue, our investigation uncovered similar facilities across the country. Andy Pierrotti explains the dangers these workers face.
