Deferred and supplemental exams

Deferred and supplemental exams are organized by the Office of the Registrar and Enrolment Management (OREM), the course instructor, or the academic unit that offers the course.

  • If your exam is organized by OREM, you'll receive an email with instructions and an online form that you must complete.
  • If your exam is organized by your instructor or the academic unit, you should contact the instructor or the unit's undergraduate secretary to arrange a date, time and location.

The following information only applies to deferred and supplemental exams organized by OREM.

Exam dates and fees

Deferred and supplemental examinations organized by OREM are held during the last three working days of July, and can be written on campus or off campus.

Fees may apply, and are non-refundable and non-transferable.

On-campus exams

Most deferred and supplemental exams are written on campus.

When you complete the online form, you'll be asked if you're registered with the Centre for Accessible Learning (CAL). If this is the case, OREM will schedule the date and time of the exam. After the exam is scheduled, you'll need to contact CAL to confirm the location.

If you're not registered with CAL, a location will be provided by OREM.

Fees for on-campus exams

  • Deferred exam: no fee
  • Supplemental exam: $50

Off-campus exams

If you won't be in Victoria in July, you can request to write your deferred or supplemental exam at a post-secondary institution near you.

  • It's your responsibility to arrange a location to write the exam (during the last three working days of July) and an invigilator to supervise your exam.
    • More information about locations and invigilators will be provided when OREM emails you the online form.
    • Your location and proposed invigilator must be included when you complete the online form.
  • Exams are scheduled in Pacific Time, and you must write at the same time in your time zone.
    • For example, if an exam starts in BC at 9:00 a.m. (Pacific Time), a student in Alberta must start the exam at 10:00 a.m. (Mountain Time).

Fees for off-campus exams

  • Deferred exam: $60
  • Supplemental exam: $60

Exam schedule
