Indigenous Education partners with Indigenous communities and organizations as well as cross-campus departments to offer exciting programs in Indigenous education and Indigenous language revitalization. Our programming in Indigenous education is informed by consultation and relationships with a diverse group of Indigenous partners.

Indigenous Education advisory board

The Indigenous Education Advisory Board in the Faculty of Education provides advice on all aspects of the policies, programs and personnel related to Indigenous issues. More specifically, the advisory board provides advice to the faculty as it works to develop the following areas:

• Indigenous teacher education programming.
• Addressing the high need for Indigenous educators in our schools and communities who have knowledge of the history, culture, language and current education issues as they relate to First Nations, Métis and Inuit people.
• Meeting the needs of increasing enrolment of Indigenous students in the faculty.
• Offering education programming that competently and respectfully serves Indigenous communities and people.
• Addressing access and retention of Indigenous students in the faculty.

The board also provides representation within the faculty to other agencies and programs that serve the interests of Indigenous education.
