Sessional Instructor Positions

Appointment Priority PolicyIn keeping with Article 13.01 of the Collective Agreement between UVic and CUPE 4163 (Component 3), Expressions of Interest are hereby sought from doctoral students, adjunct faculty, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and sessional lecturers in the department, as well as other interested parties. Offers of sessional employment will be made from the pool of qualified individuals who express interest in teaching.  The positions are subject to availability of funding and attainment of minimum course enrollment numbers.

To apply: Applicants should include details of their qualifications and teaching experiences (e.g. areas of research expertise; relevant graduate courses completed; LATHE program or other teaching training completed). Submitted materials will not be returned. Teaching Assistant Positions 


Appointment Priority Policy
: In making assignments, priority will be given to students as set out in Appointment Priority Policy A of Appendix "A" of the UVic/CUPE 4163 Collective Agreement. Please note that an application does not ensure employment, except in cases where it is guaranteed as part of a student's funding package. However, all interested students are invited to submit applications in the event that there are more positions available than there are applications from the students in the priority categories, or where attrition over the course of the term results in positions becoming available. Postings are subject to funding availability and/or course cancellation.Note: Teaching Assistants are required to be available to work over the full period in which a summer course runs. If there is a period in which you are unable to work, you MUST state this on your application form. Most courses will be offered as in-person courses and TAs should be available in Victoria. SOCI 100B, 206, 220, 345 and 390 A01 will be offered online. Previous experience is preferred for SOCI 100A & 100B.
