Preds clinch playoff berth in OT loss to Jets
Nashville rallied after being down two goals in the third to earn the needed point to clinch.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Nashville Predators rallied to collect the single point they needed to clinch a playoff spot on Tuesday night, even though their night ended in a loss to the Winnipeg Jets at Bridgestone Arena.
The Predators entered the third period down 3-1 but clawed their way back to even with goals by defenseman Spencer Stastney at the 7:34 mark and center Ryan O’Reilly from the slot just a few moments later.
In overtime, left winger Kyle Connor flipped in the wrister with 1:52 left to go to win it for the Jets, 4-3. Despite the loss, the Predators earned the point needed to secure a spot in the playoffs after tying the game and sending it to overtime.
Nashville is now 45-29-5 on the season with just three games left. They head to Chicago to take on the Blackhawks on Friday at the United Center. Puck drop is at 7:30 p.m. CT.
