NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Williamson County Fire and Rescue team was called to a home after a bathroom fan malfunctioned and burned through the ceiling, firefighters said.
Fire crews were called to a home on Boxwood Drive in Grassland on Friday when the homeowner called 911 saying their home was filled with smoke.
Firefighters found the downstairs bathroom was on fire when they got to the home, officials said. They were able to extinguish the fire quickly.
Officials discovered the fire was caused by a malfunctioning fan, according to firefighters. The fan burned through the ceiling and fell down the toilet where it continued to burn.
Williamson County Fire and Rescue said the flames were contained to the bathroom and the homeowners would be able to stay in their home after the smoke cleared.
Crews also check the home next door to make sure the fire hadn’t spread.
