CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A mother has more than doubled the reward money offered for information that leads to an arrest in the murder of a Fort Campbell soldier.

The mother of 23-year-old Pfc. Katia Duenas-Aguilar is now offering a $55,000 reward. Duenas-Aguilar was from Texas but was stationed at Fort Campbell. Officers responded to a home on May 18 in the 900 block of Tiny Town Road for an ambulance call. Authorities found Duenas-Aguilar dead inside the home.

Domingo Garcia, national president of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), said at a press conference Saturday that LULAC is in solidarity with Carmen Aguilar, Deunas-Aguilar’s mother. Initially, a $25,000 reward was offered, but Garcia said Aguilar has taken a “profound step by doubling the reward to $55,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of her daughter’s killer.”

“For this mother to commit not just money but her total soul to finding whoever did this deserves our complete and unequivocal support,” Garcia said.

Pfc. Duenas-Aguilar was a member of her division’s Combat Aviation Brigade, according to an Army spokesperson.

“We are stunned by the death of Pfc. Duenas-Aguilar,” said Lt. Col. Tony Hoefler, spokesperson for the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and Fort Campbell. “In the meantime, we will continue to cooperate with Army and local investigative authorities on this matter.”

Pfc. Duenas-Aguilar joined the Army as an Information Technology Specialist in 2018. She was honored with two Army Achievement Medals, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon.
