NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - First Alert Weather Days are now in effect for the rest of the week and through most of the holiday weekend with each day having a risk for strong to severe storms in parts of the Mid State.

TODAY & FRIDAY:

More scattered showers and storms are expected today, and with that, comes another threat of strong to severe storms. The overall threat will be low, but any storm that pops up today could have strong gusty wind and very heavy rainfall, just like yesterday. There is not a concern for a spin-up tornado today, but we could see some small hail in any storm. Highs today will stay in the 80s.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 7:00 P.M. for several Mid State counties.

More scattered showers and storms are expected again on Friday. It now also looks like any storm on Friday could also be strong-to-severe. Gusty winds and heavy downpours will be the main threats, but we could see some small hail and I cannot rule out an isolated tornado. Highs on Friday will stay in the mid-80s.

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND:

Unsettled weather will continue into the holiday weekend, so be sure you keep up with the latest forecast here on WSMV 4.

Saturday will feature some hit-or-miss showers and storms that develop throughout the area. A First Alert Weather Day is now also in effect for Saturday. The severe threat for Saturday is low, but still, any storm could produce gusty winds and heavy flooding downpours. You’ll want to have a backup plan to bring the fun inside occasionally, but we’re not talking an all-day steady rain.

A First Alert Weather Day is in effect on Sunday. A big round of strong-to-severe thunderstorms will be possible with damaging wind, large hail, localized flooding, and isolated tornadoes all possible. The threat will be highest during the afternoon and early evening. Make sure you have a plan in place with your family about where to go in the case of a tornado warning.

The weather will try to dry out some during the day on Memorial Day. There will still be some pop-up showers, but it should all be much more isolated.
