First Alert Weather: Strong to severe storms possible Sunday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) -First Alert Weather Days in effect through Sunday late. Occasional rounds of showers and thunderstorms are likely this weekend. Some of those storms could be strong and even severe, especially Sunday night.

THROUGH MORNING:

Overnight some showers and thunderstorms will be possible, some could be strong with gusty winds and heavy rain. Low, 68.

SATURDAY:

The morning will likely begin with a batch of exiting showers and storms. Clouds will break and some sunshine will return. It will be hot. High, 86.

Saturday afternoon will feature a few widely scattered showers and thunderstorms that could include heavy downpours and sudden wind gusts. Severe storms are not expected.

SUNDAY:

Sunday is a First Alert Weather Day. It will turn windy and hot. High, 91. The rain chance is low before dinnertime. In the evening scattered strong to severe thunderstorms should develop well north of Nashville and gradually settle southeastward. Any of those storms could become severe quickly, producing hail, damaging wind gusts, downpours, and isolated tornadoes. The storms will likely form into a line and push through all of Middle Tennessee from late Sunday night into early Monday.

MEMORIAL DAY:

Isolated showers and thundershowers will develop Monday as a cold front moves through. The highest chance for rain will be during the afternoon, along and south of I-40. High, 88.

TUESDAY & BEYOND:

Finally, some drier and brighter weather for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of next week. Humidity will drop some as well. Morning lows will dip to the 50s with highs in the low 80s.
