VOL R.I.S.E. program brings Tennessee football to Nashville
The student-athletes are capitalizing on the program that is meant to sharpen professional skills and prepare them for life after collegiate athletics.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Members of the Tennessee football team traded in their pads for polos on Friday as they visited Nashville to work on their networking skills.
The VOL R.I.S.E. program is meant to help student-athletes prepare for the next step in their lives after their playing days are over. Friday, that meant visiting with businesses like Amazon and getting a closer look at potential jobs after graduation.
“It’s a blessing with this RISE program to open up our eyes and see what’s coming for life after football,” Tennessee running back Dylan Sampson said.
Following their tour of the downtown facility, the team spoke with a handful of Amazon employees about their role at the company and how the student-athletes could fit into the workforce one day.
“This is a big thing that our school put together. Our player development group, those guys, they put this together to really be able to give us a chance on life after football because that is something that is really huge,” Tennessee defensive lineman Omari Thomas said.
