Carleton International has gathered some resources to help those in our community who are affected by current world events. We encourage you to browse this page for resources and support.
Iran
We, at Carleton, stand in solidarity with Iranian students, faculty, staff, alumni, and citizens. The ongoing violent acts in Iran, including on Iranian university campuses, are upsetting, especially for those in our community who have close ties with the country. We support the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Melanie Joly, in her condemnation of the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, as well as her condemnation of the state’s subsequent violent response to civilian and student protests. Carleton remains strongly opposed to all acts of violence and is committed to the rights and freedom of women – and all human rights – around the world.

On their website, you can donate to the UCC-CUF Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal who, as of March 4, has deployed $1.62M CAD to provide food, medicine, and shelter. You can also find numerous ways to provide personal assistance, including immigration consultancy, legal aid, housing, and childcare.
- The African Canadian Association of Ottawa is accepting monetary donations to help BIPOC international students who are facing challenges leaving Ukraine and those who have managed to flee to Poland.
- The International Committee of the Red Cross is currently accepting donations that will help increase their response to the humanitarian needs in Ukraine. Funds will go toward emergency resources such as food, water, medical equipment, and other essential items.
- The university is currently working with Carleton’s Scholars at Risk (SAR) initiative to host academics fleeing Ukraine. If you know at-risk Scholars, they can register with Scholar at Risk and the Scholar Rescue Fund, and please contact Faculty Affairs. You can also donate to help maximize the number of scholars Carleton can host.
