The Monument course is widely considered Troon North’s signature course, a 7,039-yard test that winds through desert replete with arroyos, natural washes, huge saguaros, mesquite and ironweed. The fairways are lush and well-maintained, and the greens are large and tricky. Many tees are set like pedestals perched above the fairways.
Many have said the blueprint for desert golf was made when Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish designed the Monument course at Troon North back in 1989.
The Monument stretches to 7,039 yards from the tips and has a par of 72. Just like neighboring Pinnacle, the Monument winds through desert replete with arroyos, natural washes, huge saguaros, mesquite and ironweed. The course has lush green fairways, some hidden behind boulders, along with high-lipped bunkers and mounds. Then there are the huge, tricky greens that befuddle and amaze first-timers. Many tees are set like pedestals perched above the fairways.
The Monument is the original course at Troon North. Its par-5 "Monument" hole is one of the most memorable and intriguing holes on the golf course. The tee shot requires you to dodge a giant boulder placed in the middle of the landing zone on the drive. Construction crews tried to remove this "monument" many times but were never successful.
by Everett on November 09th, 2015 17:49I play this course every time I go to Scottsdale!
For 20 years this has been my favorite test of golf.
by Jim McKay on April 11th, 2015 14:17I felt like I was looking at a painting and I was in it. Amazing course and people. Calgary Alberta
by Gary on September 05th, 2011 20:23Absolutely the best course I have ever played! The course was in great shape especially for late summer. I'm not a big hitter and probably should have played a set of tees up but I still had a great time. The views are unreal from nearly every hole.
by Ryan Jette on April 23rd, 2011 01:37Probably my favorite course of the 8 rounds we played. Monument was target golf at its best. Firm, fast greens, and unbelievable views. Very difficult course if your not on your A game. I didn't play Pinnacle course, but will most likely play next year based on our fine experience with Monument. Great service, especially the restaurant and bar area.
by Bill Wilder on February 22nd, 2011 22:28The course is excellent and the service was outstanding. The staff made me feel very welcome and seemed to know a lot of detail about the golf course and the local restaurants to visit.
It is pricey but I will definitely be back again next year.
