The application deadline for the first-year JD/JID program is December 1 (4 p.m. PST). You are strongly encouraged to submit your application and supporting documentation as soon as possible.
What do I have to do to be eligible for admission?
General applicants must:
present proof of having received, with standing satisfactory to the Faculty of Law, a degree from the University of Victoria or an equivalent degree from a recognized college or university; or
present proof of having completed, with standing satisfactory to the Faculty of Law, at least the first three years (45 units) of a program leading to a degree at the University of Victoria, or the equivalent at a recognized institution; and
allow UVic admissions staff to access your Law School Admission Test (LSAT) score obtained in the last five years; and
satisfy other requirements as may be prescribed from time to time.
One academic letter of reference sent to us (lclerk2@uvic.ca) by your referee
One reference letter describing your suitability for and commitment to this unique program sent to us (lclerk2@uvic.ca) by your referee
A JID statement describing your connection to and/or involvement in an Indigenous community, the reasons why you want to pursue the program and how you will enrich the learning environment at the faculty
Admission decisions are determined by your academic evaluation (GPA and LSAT weighted 50/50) and a holistic review of all other elements of your application. If you have multiple LSAT scores, the highest score is considered. Only LSAT scores within five years of the application deadline will be accepted. An incomplete application will not be considered.
