Liaison to Faculties of Business, Education, Fine Arts, Graduate Studies, Humanities, Law, and Social Sciences.

Biography

Alexandra holds a BA in English from the University of British Columbia, an MA in Linguistics from Memorial University of Newfoundland, and a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Toronto. She held an academic position at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand before joining UVic in 2010 and has been a professor since 2018 with active teaching and research programs.

Alexandra joins the VPRI leadership team from her role as associate dean research in the Faculty of Humanities, where she has been a strong advocate for research and has led a significant increase in research activity and research recognition within the faculty. Alexandra also represents UVic externally as UVic’s SSHRC leader and has contributed to UVic broadly through her service as vice-chair and chair of the Human Research Ethics Board, as chair of the Senate Committee on Learning and Teaching, and as a valued member of many other institutional committees, including the President’s Advisory Committee on External Awards and Honours.
