NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A man is facing charges in Nashville after medical personnel learned he was not only in a relationship with an underage girl but that he also shared a child with her.

According to the arrest affidavit, a 15-year-old girl and her 23-year-old boyfriend went to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital on Tuesday for a “medical issue.” Officers were called to the hospital to investigate when they learned the couple’s ages and discovered the couple share a child who is nearly 2 years old.

The girl admitted to officers that she initially lied to her boyfriend, Selvin Adelso Pop-Mac, about her age and he believed her to be 19 years old, according to the affidavit. She said he has since learned her real age and the two live together, the affidavit states.

Officers arrested Pop-Mac after he confirmed to them that he lived with the girl and he was aware of her age. He is charged with statutory rape and rape of a child.
