DOVER, Tenn. (WSMV) – A loaded handgun was found at Stewart County High School Thursday afternoon.
Stewart County Schools said in a Facebook post an unattended purse was found in a staff bathroom. While trying to identify the owner of the purse, a loaded handgun was found inside, according to the post.
Students do not have regular access to the bathroom and no students were near the gun, the school system said.
“The staff member has been removed from campus and the matter has been turned over to the Stewart County Sheriff’s Office for investigation,” the post said.
