New Casual Employees

After you accept your offer, your manager will be in touch to welcome you to the team. You can confirm first day information and logistics (office location, start time, dress code, what to bring, etc.) directly with them.

On your first day, you will receive a department orientation (workstation information, team introduction, and department overview) from your new manager and team. Over the next few weeks and months, they will also be supporting your overall onboarding process to ensure you are successful in your new role!

Additional onboarding activities (designated as part of Carleton’s Onboarding timeline) can be found below.

New Continuing and Term Employees

After you accept your offer, you will be scheduled for an orientation session with Human Resources. Your manager will also be in touch with you to welcome you to the team, and you can confirm first day information and logistics (office location, dress code, what to bring, etc.) directly with them.

HR Orientation Session

We will contact you with the specific date and time of your orientation session—in most cases, it will be the Monday of or prior to your first day of work. This orientation session is hosted by a member of our Talent Acquisition team and serves as an opportunity to meet other new hires while learning about various departments, services, and resources on campus. We also review mandatory training requirements, campus safety, and other important information to help you get started at Carleton.

Due to COVID-19, we are currently conducting all orientations virtually.

Department Orientation & Onboarding

After completing your HR Orientation Session, you will then head over to the office of your new team.

Upon arrival, you will receive a department orientation (workstation information, team introduction, and department overview) from your new manager and team. Over the next few weeks and months, they will also be supporting your overall onboarding process to ensure you are successful in your new role!

University Onboarding

As a new employee to Carleton, we want to ensure that you have a proper onboarding experience. This will ensure that you are properly set up for success in your new role, and that you become a key member of Carleton’s community and culture.

The full Onboarding process normally takes place over your first year of employment at Carleton. Here is a timeline of Onboarding initiatives (and their associated timeframes) that you are strongly encouraged to participate in:
